Cuppasa redefines the relationship between coffee shops and people working from coffee shops.
As the co-founder and CEO of Cuppasa I took ownership of the product and user experience among other things. Together with my co-founder I came up with the concept which we then transformed into 2 fully functioning applications available both on the Playstore and the App store.
The relationship between coffee shops and people working from coffee shops with their laptops is tricky, to say the least. Coffee shops
have been designed for a large turnover while people who sit down to work tend to take up a lot of space for a long time without ordering enough
to be an attractive customer. People looking for places to work, on the other hand, have a hard time finding a coffee shop that addresses their
daily needs and welcome them to work from their space.
We discovered an opportunity and after having performed all of the research, we were looking for ways to redefine this relationship. Since people who work from coffee shops are used to behave the way they do, we needed to look carefully at their pain points in order to provide the right benefits that would incentivize them to change their behavior. While the coffee shops' pain points were clear we had to find the right balance between allowing them to better optimize their space and still welcome this growing crowd into their shops.
After having carefully researched both sides, we understood the pains that needed to be solved. For coffee shops, we needed to find a way to
better optimize their space. generate more revenue, and gain some control over when and where people are working from their expensive real-estate.
For people looking to work from coffee shops we were looking to match them with the most fitting place for their daily needs, make their life easier, and
help them with a growing feeling of isolation.
While we could create a system in which coffee shops could simply tell people what their minimum order requirement should be or locking them out of the wifi, we decided to take a positive approach. We insisted to find solutions that would benefit the coffee shops through incentives for remote workers to sit together and order enough.
The Cuppasa platform consists of 2 apps, one for the coffee shops and one for the remote workers.
The remote worker app helps users to find welcoming coffee shops based on their location, mood, specific needs, and potential opportunities in the form of other professionals. Not only can they find a place, Cuppasa allows them to view seat availability from the comfort of their home as well . Once they arrive they can meet the people they share a table with, order from the comfort of their seat, and receive notifications on exclusive deals and menu items.
Coffee shops are able to declare on what days and hours people are welcome to work from their shop. In the coffee shop, they allocate specific tables for Cuppasa users. They have a clear visibility over the people that are checked in and are able to communicate with the checked in crowd to offer special deals and new menu items. Reports help them gain insigths based on customer behavior.
The remote worker app offers tools to locate welcoming coffee shops, view seat availability, meet people and order food and beverages.
The coffee shop app offers a set of managing, ordering, and messaging tools as well as reports.
Since our product guides people from a virtual experience to physical locations, we created real life elements to complete
the Cuppasa experience. These elements fulfill both functional and branding purposes.
